Spanish Government announce they will keep the VAT reduction on basic food products beyond 30 June

No end date has been specified but the government spokesperson said “We will maintain the VAT reduction on food until more appropriate price levels are reached”

The VAT on bread, milk, cheese, eggs, fruits, vegetables, and cereals has been reduced from four to 0 percent; and from 10 to five percent on oil and pasta. Spain introduce new regulated electricity tarif in 2024

Although there is no specific economic saving identified for consumers the new regulation process should avoid the spikes in price hikes that consumers saw last year. Read more here

Students from British education system will be able to access Spanish universities

The Diplomat reports “The agreement, which will be signed in the coming days by the Minister for Universities, Joan Subirats, limits the impact of Brexit on access to university for both UK students and the more than 70,000 students from the more than 80 educational centers that teach in Spain within the British system. This agreement facilitates educational cooperation between the two countries”
